Notes
'Eastern Star' white wood aster (Eurybia divaricata 'Eastern Star') is a perennial for borders, shade gardens, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and dry to moist, loamy or clay soil. It forms a clumping mound up to 18 inches tall and grows at a rapid pace. White flowers open in early to late summer and again in early to late autumn, and they attract butterflies, bees, and birds. Deer tend to browse other plants first.
Pairs well with Blue wood aster, Eastern columbine, and Canada wild rye.
