Notes

White wood aster (Eurybia divaricata) is a perennial for shade gardens, woodland plantings, and borders. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. White flowers with yellow to red centers open in early to late autumn, and butterflies and bees visit them. It spreads fast, so give it room. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything.

Pairs well with White phlox, Blackhaw viburnum, and Canada wild rye.
