'Elaine' cryptanthus (Cryptanthus 'Elaine') is a houseplant for succulent collections, containers, and indoor displays. It grows outdoors year-round in USDA zone 10 and warmer, down to about 30°F (-1°C). In colder areas, grow it as a houseplant or bring it indoors for winter. This plant likes part sun and average to moist soil. The leaves are deep green-brown with pink margins and waves and zigzags of white. It does best with high humidity.

Pairs well with String of turtles, Jade pothos, and California fescue.
