Notes
'Empress' toad lily (Tricyrtis 'Empress') is a perennial for shade gardens, woodland borders, and bed edges. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes part to full shade and average to wet soil. White flowers with dark purple spotting open in late summer and early autumn. It grows 24 to 30 inches tall and wide, so give it room to form a clump.
Pairs well with Siebold's hosta, Lady fern, and Japanese forest grass.
