Notes

False lily of the valley (Maianthemum dilatatum) is a perennial for ground cover and low maintenance planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Each stalk bears two glossy, heart-shaped leaves and a spiky cluster of tiny white flowers, followed by red berries. It spreads by underground roots, so give it room and edge the bed.

Pairs well with Snake Eyes hosta, Cranberry, and Canada wild rye.
