Notes

Full moon maple (Acer japonicum) is a tree for specimen planting and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil. It grows slowly into an erect tree, 20 to 30 feet tall and wide. Purplish red flowers open from early to late spring and attract bees. The leaves show gold, orange, and red colors in fall.

Pairs well with Crab apple, Jacob’s ladder, and Ornamental onion.
