Notes

Japanese maple (Acer palmatum) is a tree for specimen, accent, and woodland gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil. It grows slowly into a broad shape with gold, green, or purple foliage and fall color. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits. Red flowers open in spring and attract bees and birds.

Pairs well with Japanese forest grass, Smooth hydrangea, and Primrose.
