Notes
Giant chain fern (Woodwardia fimbriata) is a fern for borders, containers, and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 8, or down to 10°F (-12°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to wet, loamy or clay soil. Deer tend to browse other plants first. Its evergreen fronds can reach eight feet long, though in the garden it more likely grows 4 to 6 feet tall. Cut off old fronds as new ones appear.
Pairs well with Ostrich fern, Toad lily, and Western hemlock.
