Notes

Goumi (Elaeagnus multiflora) is a shrub for hedges and naturalized plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average moisture. Fragrant white flowers open in spring and bees visit them. The juicy scarlet fruit ripens in late summer and tastes like tart cherries. It is grown for fresh eating, pies, and preserves.

Pairs well with Honeycrisp apple, Comfrey, and Snowberry.

China, Japan, Korea, and Kuril Island.
