Notes

Grand mesa beardtongue (Penstemon mensarum) is a perennial for borders, low maintenance beds, and woodland edges. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Blue to violet flowers open in spring and again in summer, and hummingbirds and bees visit the blooms. Deer rarely make it their first choice.

Pairs well with Powis Castle white sagebrush, Feverfew, Purple milkweed, and Ornamental onion.
