Notes

'Husker Red' beardtongue (Penstemon digitalis 'Husker Red') is a perennial for borders, pollinator gardens, rain gardens, and meadows. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. White flowers open in spring and again in summer. Butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees visit the blooms. Deer rarely make it their first choice.

Pairs well with PowWow White coneflower, Prairie dropseed, and Nodding onion.
