Notes

'Hosui' pear (Pyrus pyrifolia 'Hosui') is a fruit tree for food gardens, borders, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It is grown for fresh eating, and the fruit ripens early and keeps for 1-2 months. Deer tend to browse other plants first. Plant a second pear nearby, because this tree is not self-fertile.

Pairs well with Everbearing strawberry, Lovage, and Honorine Jobert anemone.
