Notes
Hummingbird trumpet (Epilobium canum) is a perennial for borders, pollinator gardens, and xeriscapes. It is hardy to USDA zone 8, or down to 10°F (-12°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to average, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. Bright red, trumpet-shaped flowers bloom late in the season, when little else is in flower. Hummingbirds and butterflies visit for the nectar. It spreads rapidly by root sprouts and rhizomes, so give it room.
Pairs well with White sage, Sea holly, and Lion's tail.
