Notes
Humboldt county fuchsia (Epilobium septentrionale) is a perennial for borders, containers, and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 8, or down to 10°F (-12°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. It stays about 12 inches tall and spreads 24 to 36 inches. Red and orange flowers open in early to late summer and again in early to late autumn, and they draw butterflies, hummingbirds, and birds. It sits low on the menu for deer.
Pairs well with Broad-leaf stonecrop, Salal, Mediterranean spurge, and Shenandoah switchgrass.
