Notes

'Jazz' little bluestem (Schizachyrium scoparium 'Jazz') is a grass for borders, containers, meadows, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It sits low on the menu for deer. The purplish bronze plumes turn silvery as they mature, and the foliage takes on fall color. Butterflies, bees, and birds visit it.

Pairs well with Aromatic aster, Indian Summer rudbeckia, and New Jersey tea.
