Notes

'Kaukura' sweet potato vine (Ipomoea batatas 'Kaukura') is a groundcover with burgundy-purple foliage that also trails from containers. It grows outdoors year-round in USDA zone 10 and warmer, down to about 30°F (-1°C). In colder areas, grow it as a houseplant or bring it indoors for winter. This plant likes full or part sun. Lavender flowers appear from early to late summer. A fertilizer with less nitrogen and more phosphorous and potassium slows leafy growth and helps the plant form more tubers.

Pairs well with Purple top, Papyrus, Society garlic, and Calla lily.
