Notes

Lamp rush (Juncus effusus) is a grass for rain gardens, containers, accents, and low maintenance beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and average to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. Birds find shelter among the evergreen stems, and its rhizomes can spread, so grow it in a tub.

Pairs well with Pickerel weed, Swamp milkweed, and Royal fern.
