Notes

California gray rush (Juncus patens) is a grass for borders and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy or clay soil. It stays evergreen and is drought tolerant. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. The clumps reach 12 to 24 inches tall and wide.

Pairs well with California poppy, Broom tea tree, and Anouk Spanish lavender.
