Notes

Lesser knotweed (Bistorta affinis) is a perennial for borders, ground cover, and low maintenance beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. It grows about 12 inches tall and spreads 12 to 24 inches, so it fills in as a mat. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything.

Pairs well with Silver feather grass, Star of persia, and Atropurpureum cobwebby thistle.
