Notes
'Luxuriant' dutchman's breeches (Dicentra 'Luxuriant') is a perennial for borders, shade gardens, woodland gardens, and rock gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and average to moist, loamy, clay, or chalky soil. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. It bears cherry red flowers in spring, summer, and autumn, and butterflies and bees visit the blooms.
Pairs well with August Moon hosta, Sensitive fern, and Lily of the valley.
