Notes

Myoga shade ginger (Zingiber mioga) is a perennial for borders and containers. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Delicate yellow flower buds emerge from the base in late summer. Rabbits rarely make it their first choice. A deep mulch of leaves helps protect it in winter.

Pairs well with Rainbow's End hosta, Salal, and Fountain grass.
