Notes

Myrtle oak (Quercus myrtifolia) is an evergreen shrub for borders, accents, and xeriscape gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 8, or down to 10°F (-12°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy soil. The shiny, leathery leaves stay dark green all year. Small acorns form on the branches, and birds visit the plant. It tends to form thickets, so give it room.

Pairs well with Texas mountain laurel, White sage, and Mondo grass.
