Notes

Oriental plane tree (Platanus orientalis) is a tree for shade gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes full sun and average to wet soil of most types. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. It grows 60 to 80 feet tall and spreads 50 to 70 feet, so give it plenty of room. Birds visit it, and it tolerates drought.

Pairs well with Cucumber tree, Cedar elm, Mondo grass, and Siberian iris.
