Notes

Pacific wax myrtle (Myrica californica) is a shrub for hedges, privacy screens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. The evergreen leaves are glossy and dark green, and the plant tolerates beach wind. Spring catkins are followed by brown-purple fruit that birds eat. Deer rarely make it their first choice.

Pairs well with Redwood, James Roof silk tassel bush, and New Jersey tea.
