Notes

Patrinia (Patrinia scabiosifolia) is a perennial for borders, cottage gardens, meadows, and naturalized areas. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. It forms a clump of green leaves and grows 36 to 72 inches tall. Yellow flowers appear in early to late summer and again in early to late autumn, and butterflies and bees visit them.

Pairs well with Magnus coneflower, Prairie dropseed, and Blue-eyed grass.
