Notes

Pearlbush (Exochorda racemosa) is a shrub for borders, cottage gardens, and hedges. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. White flowers open from early to late spring and attract bees. The arching branches reach 10 to 15 feet tall and wide, so give it room. It also tolerates drought once established.

Pairs well with Lenten rose, Star magnolia, Pink Impression tulip, and Christmas fern.

Native range

Central Asia and southeastern China.
