Notes
'Peter Pan' New York aster (Symphyotrichum novi-belgii 'Peter Pan') is a perennial for borders, pollinator gardens, rock gardens, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. It grows 12 to 18 inches tall with a cascading habit. Violet-purple flowers open in late summer and last into autumn, and they attract butterflies, bees, and birds.
Pairs well with Switchgrass, Cardinal flower, and Indian grass.
