Notes

Annual phlox (Phlox drummondii) is an annual for borders, containers, and rock gardens. It handles cool weather and a light frost. This plant likes full sun to part shade and dry to average soil of most types. Rose-red flowers open in tight clusters and attract butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees. The blooms are fragrant. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal.

Pairs well with Indian blanket, Red fescue, and Pearly everlasting.

Native range

Texas.
