Notes

Pride of madeira (Echium wildpretii) is a perennial for containers, specimen plantings, and accents. It grows outdoors year-round in USDA zone 9 and warmer, down to about 20°F (-7°C). In colder areas, grow it as a houseplant or bring it indoors for winter. This plant likes full sun and dry to average, sandy or loamy soil. Tall spikes of coral red to violet flowers open in spring and early summer, and bees visit them. The gray and green leaves stay on the plant all year.

Pairs well with Tuscan Blue rosemary, Statice, and Lemon grass.
