Notes

Purple locoweed (Oxytropis lambertii) is a perennial for woodland gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun and dry soil. Dense clusters of reddish-lavender pea flowers sit just above the tufted, silvery leaves on long stalks. Plants bloom in mid to late spring, again in early to late summer, and once more in early autumn.

Pairs well with Hoary vervain, Porcupinegrass, and Woodland sunflower.
