Notes

Woodland sunflower (Helianthus strumosus) is a perennial for borders, low maintenance gardens, and woodland plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and dry soil of most types. The stout stem grows up to 7 feet tall and carries yellow flower heads 2 to 4 inches across. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by. Seed heads attract birds.

Pairs well with Skyblue aster, Poverty oatgrass, and New York fern.
