Notes
'Purple Rain' cenizo (Leucophyllum frutescens 'Purple Rain') is a shrub for hedges, accents, and foundation plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 8, or down to 10°F (-12°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to average, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. The evergreen shrub has a dense habit, tolerates drought and salt, and draws butterflies when it blooms in summer and autumn.
Pairs well with Purple sage, Jojoba, and Rose of jericho.
