Notes

Dittany (Dictamnus albus var. purpureus) is a perennial for borders, cottage gardens, rock gardens, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal. Pale to deep purplish pink flowers with darker veins open in spring and again in summer, and bees and butterflies visit the fragrant blooms.

Pairs well with Buckeye Belle peony, Nodding onion, and Creeping jenny.

Native range

Europe and western temperate Asia.
