Notes

Red birds in a tree (Scrophularia macrantha) is a perennial for borders, low maintenance beds, and woodland gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to average, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. The bright red tubular flowers have white lips and look like little red birds resting in a tree. Hummingbirds and bees visit them, and the plant blooms from early summer until frost.

Pairs well with David garden phlox, Japanese forest grass, and Toad lily.
