Notes

Redbay (Tamala borbonia) is an evergreen tree for woodland, rain garden, and naturalized settings. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and average to wet soil. The crown is dense and well-rounded, and the leaves are aromatic. Light yellow-green flowers open in late spring and early summer. Birds eat the dark fruit that follows.

Pairs well with Sweet bay magnolia, Oakleaf hydrangea, Ostrich fern, and Trumpet honeysuckle.
