Notes
'Rubra' sheep laurel (Kalmia angustifolia 'Rubra') is a shrub for pollinator gardens and low maintenance landscapes. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It stays evergreen and grows slowly to 12 to 36 inches tall. Butterflies, bees, and birds visit it, and it blooms in spring and again in summer.
Pairs well with Blue Chiffon rose of sharon, Black gum, and Big bluestem.
