Notes

Sego lily (Calochortus nuttallii) is a perennial for low maintenance gardens. It grows from an onion-like bulb. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun and dry, sandy or loamy soil. Tulip-like white to lavender-blue flowers open atop slender stems in spring and summer. Keep the bulbs completely dry from mid-summer to late fall, and protect them from gophers and moles.

Pairs well with Antelope bitterbrush, Ashy sunflower, and Glory-of-the-snow.
