This plant likes full sun and dry to average, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. It stands 2 to 4 feet tall and has rough, hairy leaves and stems. Yellow flower heads, 3 to 5 inches across, appear in summer. Butterflies, bees, and birds visit them.
