Notes

'Shirotae flowering' Japanese flowering cherry (Prunus serrulata 'Shirotae flowering') is a tree for borders, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. It blooms in early to late spring and draws butterflies, bees, and birds. The wide, flat-topped crown turns orange and gold in fall.

Pairs well with Jackmanii clematis, Autumn fern, and Ornamental onion.
