Notes
'Tai-haku flowering' Japanese flowering cherry (Prunus serrulata 'Tai-haku flowering') is a tree for borders, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. It blooms in early to late spring and draws butterflies, bees, and birds. The leaves turn orange and gold in fall.
Pairs well with Japanese forest grass, First Frost hosta, and Ornamental onion.
