Notes

'Jackmanii' clematis (Clematis 'Jackmanii') is a vine for borders, containers, cottage gardens, and privacy screens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. Its deep royal purple flowers are 4 to 6 inches wide and cover the vine in profusion, so try growing it into an old rhododendron or through a climbing rose. George Jackman & Son bred it in 1863. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first.

Pairs well with Paperbark maple, Bobo hydrangea, Standing Ovation little bluestem, and Foam flower.
