Notes

Showy skullcap (Scutellaria serrata) is a perennial for borders, pollinator gardens, woodland gardens, and low maintenance beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist soil. It grows 12 to 30 inches tall and wide. Blue to violet flowers open in spring, again in summer, and into early autumn. Bees visit the blooms, and the plant tolerates drought.

Pairs well with Butterfly milkweed, Switchgrass, Wild ginger, and Cinnamon fern.
