Notes

Siamese ginger (Alpinia galanga) is a perennial for annual beds and the kitchen garden. It grows outdoors year-round in USDA zone 11 and warmer, down to about 40°F (4°C). In colder areas, grow it as a houseplant or bring it indoors for winter. This plant likes full or part sun and average moisture. It is grown for its pungent rhizome, which smells of citrus, black pepper, and pine needles. Creamy flowers open at the tops of the tall stems in summer.

Pairs well with Croton, Mandevilla, and New guinea impatiens.
