Notes
'Variegata' shellplant (Alpinia zerumbet 'Variegata') is a perennial for annual beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 8, or down to 10°F (-12°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average moisture. It grows 24 to 48 inches tall and 24 to 48 inches wide, so give it room to spread. The white blooms have yellow inside lips and a red throat. Those colorful flowers stand out against the plant's variegated foliage in a bed.
Pairs well with Begonia, Vermillionaire cuphea, Mondo grass, and Labyrinth dahlia.
