Notes

Silver buffaloberry (Shepherdia argentea) is a shrub for borders, hedges, and food gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to wet soil of most types. The silvery-gray leaves and spiny twigs give it a bold look. Both male and female plants are needed for fruit set, and the sour berries are best after frost.

Pairs well with Red cedar, Wild bergamot, and Switchgrass.
