Notes

Wild bergamot (Monarda fistulosa) is a perennial for borders, pollinator gardens, meadows, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and dry to wet soil of most types. Pink to lavender pompom flowers attract butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. Good drainage and air flow help prevent mildew.

Pairs well with Goldsturm black-eyed Susan, Switchgrass, and Swamp milkweed.
