Notes

Skimmia (Skimmia japonica) is a shrub for shade gardens, borders, containers, and foundation plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to moist, loamy or chalky soil. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal. It stays evergreen and has a dense, slow growing habit. The creamy white blooms are fragrant and attract bees and birds.

Pairs well with Red twig dogwood, Tree heath, and Lenten rose.
