Notes
'Sour Grapes' beardtongue (Penstemon hartwegii 'Sour Grapes') is a perennial for borders, pollinator gardens, and containers. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to average, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. It blooms in early to late spring and again in early to late summer, and hummingbirds, bees, and birds visit the flowers. Deer tend to pass it by. It is drought tolerant, so it suits low care beds.
Pairs well with Yarrow, Coneflower, and Rosemary.
