Notes
Spring vetchling (Lathyrus vernus) is a perennial for woodland gardens, shade borders, and spring color. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes part to full shade and average moisture. It blooms in mid spring with blue to violet flowers. It stays small, about 6 to 12 inches tall and wide, so it fits at the front of a bed.
Pairs well with Siebold's hosta, Lady fern, and Japanese forest grass.
