Notes

Beach pea (Lathyrus japonicus) is a vine for erosion control, habitat restoration, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to wet, sandy soil. Pink pea-like flowers bloom in clusters and attract bees and butterflies. Deer tend to pass it by. The seeds feed birds and small mammals.

Pairs well with Nepeta, Tall fescue, and Snowberry.
